PRAISE God that He does not forget His people even though we may forget Him. His heart is still for us. He, like us, wants to be wanted, respected, trusted, cherished and loved. Yet He does something for us that we cannot do for Him – He delivers us from captivity! CRY OUT TO HIM TODAY!]]>
We will be needing help this week to get ready. Here are some of the areas where we would welcome and appreciate any volunteer help:
-Putting in ceiling tiles
-vacuuming and wiping down walls throughout
-tearing down, patching and painting lobby to mall commons wall
-paint touch ups throughout
-set up of sound equipment
Once again, thank you so much for standing in faith with us! Please come out and join us this weekend as we praise God and serve Him in our community!]]>
January 23, 2013 His Benefits
“Bless the Lord, o my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.2 Bless the Lord, o my soul,
and forget none of His benefits;”
When the Lord blesses us, He reviews and responds to our needs. When we bless the Lord, we review and respond to His excellence and holiness. As we recount His blessings, we must remember that He never acts outside of His character or what He has revealed. He is always consistent!
January 24, 2013 He Pardons and Heals
Ps. 103:3 (NASB)
“Who pardons all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases;”
Sin makes our souls sick and keeps us separated from God, and as a result keeps good things from us. By His grace and through His forgiveness, we are restored to His favor and the blessings that He desires to bestow on us, including healing for our spirit and soul with the hope of eternal life through faith in Jesus.
January 25, 2013 He Redeems and Crowns
Ps. 103:4 (NASB)
“Who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;”
God’s love and compassion for us makes our needs His own and our greatest need is to be rescued from the pit of hell. When we place our trust and faith in Christ-He not only saves us from certain death and ruin, He honors us with His love!
January 26, 2013 He Satisfies and Renews
Ps. 103:5 (NASB)
“Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”
It is only God’s favor and grace that can bring true satisfaction to fulfill our potential, needs and desires. Our thoughts, emotions and will can only be renewed and strengthened by the graces and comforts of His Spirit!
January 27, 2013 His Righteous Deeds, Judgments and Ways
Ps. 103:6-7 (NASB)
“The Lord performs righteous deeds and judgments for all who are oppressed. 7 He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel.”
God has a history of keeping His word! He is faithful when we are not and it is His righteousness that is revealed in and through our lives when we honor our covenant with Him. His standards are unchanging and dependable. His love guides and directs in ways that are pleasing to Him.
January 28, 2013 His Compassion, Grace, Patience and Lovingkindness
Ps. 103:8-9 (NASB)
“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
9 He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever.”
It is the Lord’s nature to be compassionate, gracious and patient! He desires to pardon our sins and He does when we come to Him. In His grace, He gives us space to repent and His mercy is evident in His kindness towards us.
January 29, 2013 His Mercy and Forgiveness
Ps. 103:10-12 (NASB)
“He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
God’s patience should lead us to repentance – He is holy and just! His love and kindness are expressed in His mercy towards us. How rich are the mercies of God? The hope that He gives in restoring us to a right standing with Him by forgiving and forgetting our sins is immeasurable! This is the heart and character of our God who saves!
Romans 8:15 (NASB) “15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received the Spirit of Adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”
The control of sin over lives can enslave to the point of fear. Believers are “placed as sons” or adopted as God’s children. With Him as Father, that place of belonging and significance assures a share in the inheritance with Christ, both in His suffering and in His glory.
Abba Father! Thank You for adopting us into Your family as Your own! Thank You for Your Father’s heart that provides needs; protects – chasing away fear; and plans that are not meant to harm but to give a hope and a future. Thank You for those who have Your heart and bless those who have adopted or are adopting children who have need of loving parents. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 17, 2013 Provision for The Unemployed
Ecclesiastes 3:13 (NASB)
“13 moreover, that every man who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor—it is the gift of God.”
Although we can do nothing to add to God’s work, we can find satisfaction in working and enjoy the fruits of provision and contentment – they are gifts from Him! We can use the benefits of our work to bless our families, neighbors, the poor, and to civil and religious interests. We were created “very good”, to do good!
Lord God, You created us for good and have given us capacity to do good things with rewards for our hard work. Father, I pray for those who are looking for work and desire to provide for their families. Lord, lead them to the place where they can serve with the strength, skill, gifts and talents given by You – may they find contentment in Your provision and be generous in their giving back to You. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 18, 2013 An Invitation for The Alien
Lev. 19:34 (NASB)
“34 The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.”
Strangers should be welcomed to God’s grace and it is holiness to invite them to it. Because we have been recipients of God’s favor and loving kindness, we should offer that to those of different countries, customs and languages. We may find ourselves an alien and wanted to be treated with the same respect.
Lord, I stand in awe at Your desire for all mankind to come into relationship with You. Thank You for using us to reach out and touch those different from ourselves. Help us to remember that we need to treat others the way that we want to be treated. We were not deserving of Your acceptance either, yet Your love covered us and Your faithfulness met us. I pray that we will learn to love all men like You do. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 19, 2013 Counsel for the Older Men/Women ~ Younger Men/Women
1 Timothy 5:1-2 (NASB)
“Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but rather appeal to him as a father, to the younger men as brothers 2 the older women as mothers, and the younger women as sisters, in all purity.”
God desires and instructs us to treat one another as family. It is important and shows respect when we recognize the needs and problems of older believers and seek to help them. It is also important not to belittle or discount the value of the younger believers but to take them in as we would a brother or sister-protecting, correcting with love and tenderness as we encourage them to purity.
God, thank You for teaching us in the ways You want us to conduct ourselves as family. Your instruction is faithful, true and edifies the entire family when obeyed. As we practice Your way, may we gain peace and purity in our homes reflecting Your goodness to those who are watching. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 20, 2013 Blessing of The Unborn and The Children
Mark 10:13-15 (NASB)
“3 And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. 14 But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” 16 And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them.”
Jesus has loving concern for the spiritual welfare of children and values their innocence. Jesus also reveals truth for those who receive God’s kingdom with the same trust and innocence of faith – it is the attitude with which we enter it. His blessing them is an example for us in the simplicity of believing faith in Christ!
Your word tells us that children are a blessing and show us true innocence and purity that is of great value in Your Kingdom, Lord. You call us to trust You as purely and innocently as them. Forgive us when we have in any way devalued their innocent lives. God, help us to watch, learn and trust You as completely as they do. Please shape our faith through their example of how and where to begin and guide us into maturity that reveals Your Kingdom blessings. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 21, 2013 Strength for The Weak and Weary
Is. 40:31 (NASB)
“Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.”
God’s imparts His power through the experience of our faith that is expressed by hope. God never grows weak or weary! Those who place their hope and trust in the Lord will find times of renewal and refreshing! The Lord will lift them up spiritually and emotionally!
Lord God, we pray for those who are burdened by the cares of this world. May we all place our hope in You when we need refreshing and renewal. God, strengthen us according to our trust and faith in You. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 22, 2013 Freedom for The Brokenhearted, Depressed and Bound (Addicted)
Is 61:1b (NASB)
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me (Jesus-the Messiah) to bind up the brokenhearted to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners;”
He (Jesus the Christ) has been appointed and ordained to bring God’s Gospel message of comfort and salvation as our Redeemer. His message brings the hope of healing for a broken heart and spirit. He speaks of freedom to those bound by guilt and imprisoned by their sinful choices. It is only by His grace that He gives us the faith to overcome!
Thank You for the ministry and anointing of Jesus to bring healing, joy and freedom! We praise You for the hope to overcome things that keep us from the experiencing the fullness of God and His great love for us. Give us a boldness to share the reason for the hope that we have in Christ and His Gospel message! In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 8, 2013 Hope for The Afflicted and Abused Life
2 Cor. 4:7-9 (NASB) “7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; 8 we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;”
God formed us and knows that we can be broken easily, but God’s power is released through us as we share how the Gospel and God’s word has and will continue to transform us. We must remember that it is God’s power that not only sustains us through good and bad times us, but works through us to bring life and hope to others!
Thank You Lord, for Your love that draws hearts to Your word. You restore hope to the hopeless and strengthen the faith of the weak. Your grace is more than sufficient to meet them at their greatest point of need. Please touch the lives that have been shattered through abuse and begin a transforming work as You reveal Yourself to them. Lord, guide them through the healing process so that their strength would be renewed and they would emboldened to testify of Your saving love. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 9, 2013 Hope for The Deceived and Confused Life
James. 1:16-18 (NASB) “16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. 18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.”
Our desires can distort our view and mislead us on a path of destruction. God will only give good and perfect gifts! He does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever and can be depended upon. We must remember that we were created in His image and are the first fruits, or the best of His creation. His way is truth and produces life!
Father God, thank You that You desire that all mankind would live in truth so that we would not deceived and misled away from You. Jesus said that Your word is truth. Help us to embrace Your truth even when it is difficult and requires that we put self aside. As we trust in the truth of Your word, bring clarity to things that formerly confused us so that we can be obedient and walk in Your blessings. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 10, 2013 Hope for The Sick and Diseased Life
Mark 6:56 (NASB) “56 Wherever He (Jesus) entered villages, or cities, or countryside, they were laying the sick in the market places, and imploring Him that they might just touch the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were being cured.”
Jesus, in His grace towards all, withholds nothing from those who take active steps of faith towards Him. It was simply their touch plus their faith to reach out that healed them!
Father God, thank You that physical, emotional and spiritual healing are available to those who will believe enough to be moved to action. Your compassion and concern for the hurting is revealed in the life of Christ. Lord, we pray for an increase of faith in You today that will put people on a path of faith and action to trust You with all of their needs. Thank You for those who have been healed by their faith in You, and those who will be. Giving You the glory today, in Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 11, 2013 Hope for The Fearful Life
Ps. 56:3 (NASB) “When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.”
This is the heart condition of many and putting trust in God counters our fears as we pray to Him, meditate on His Word and sing His praises. Trust is not a “feeling” that all will work out for the best but a confidence in God’s promises.
Lord, thank You for revealing that fear is an emotion that can be overcome as steps of faith are taken to pray to You, meditate on Your word and sing Your praises as blessings are counted. May those who have been robbed of hope through fear rise up and take these steps in confident trust in You and Your word. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 12, 2013 Hope for The Poor and Needy Life
Ps. 113:7-8 (NASB) “7 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, 8 to make them sit with princes, With theprinces of His people.”
The loving kindness of the Lord is able to reach us when faced with poverty and disgrace. When we have fallen and failed we can look to God in His goodness for provision. God in His sovereignty can redeem that which has been lost.
You, O Lord, are able to do so much more than we can ask or imagine! While we are limited by time and space, You are not! You are good and are able to deliver those whose basic needs have become loss. We pray that as Restorer of the Breach, You would work Your redeeming power in the lives of those who have suffered loss and that they would give You glory, honor and praise. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 13, 2013 Hope for The Abandoned and Forsaken Life
Ps. 9:10 (NASB) “And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.”
God will never abandon or forsake those who seek Him. God’s promise does not mean that if we trust Him we will escape loss or suffering, but that He will not leave us no matter what we face. He will walk with us.
Thank You Father God, that You are available to those who know and seek You. You do not reject or leave those who have put their confidence in You in the midst of their troubles. May those who have felt the hopelessness of abandonment turn their eyes and their hearts to You. May they know and be comforted by the promise that they do not have to walk this life alone. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 14, 2013 Hope for The Fatherless and the Widow
Ps. 68:5 (NASB) “A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, is God in His holy habitation.”
God’s grace, mercy and tender compassion are available in the absence of an earthly father. He is there to protect and is available to teach, bless and provide for. We are able to call on Him freely and He counsels those who have suffered loss.
Father God, thank You for binding up the wounds of the broken hearted during times of great loss. I pray for Your grace, mercy and compassion to be at work in the lives of those who have lost parents or spouses. I trust that Your counsel and provision would fill them with hope. May Your comfort be their peace, Your love guide their steps, and Your holiness draw them into relationship with You. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 15, 2013 Hope for The Anxious and Worried Life
Phil 4:6-7 (NASB) “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
While we are called to care and be genuinely concerned is one thing, to be worried and stressed out is another matter. The balance in caring for those we minister to, we must retain our trust in God. To worry is to abandon trust in Him. Cast our cares in prayer, trusting in God’s supply and thanking Him for His faithfulness will lead to peace in our emotions and our thoughts.
Father God, we cast our concerns of this world on You and invite Your presence and Your peace to minister. We trust in You, knowing that nothing is hidden from Your eyes. You know our needs and we look to You believing that You are faithful and mighty to save. Thank You for being our source for all that is needed. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.]]>
~ SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE ~
Posted by Brenda Schaefer
“Desperate”, “hopeless”, “isolated”, “crushed”, “depressed”, “unstable”, “innocence lost”, “violent”, “senseless”, “tragic” ~ these are all words that we have heard in recent days to describe what happened in Connecticut, as well as other times when we have heard of such actions. Whatever reasons there are that would drive anyone to take a life. It begins with the devaluing of human life, even their own. When we hear of tragic things like this, we must remember that it is not God’s idea that these thing should happen. It reflects nothing of His original design and plan, not to mention of His desire for us accept His word as truth and to walk in the fullness of His love shown to us through the person of Christ.
Join me in praying this month for the potential that God Himself has given every human life – to the glory of His name!
Privileged to pray with you,
Reflections of God’s Glory
Week 1 (January 1-7)
January 1, 2013 The Author of Life “Then God said…”
Gen. 1:26a (NIV) “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our likeness…’”
God’s image was imparted only to humans! It was God’s idea and authority that we all share in His nature and attributes of life, personality, truth, wisdom, love, holiness, justice, patience, forgiveness, kindness, and faithfulness. We have His essence in us!
Father, thank you for Your original plan and design for every human life. I praise You for sharing Your attributes within us, and for making us to be able to share them with others. I ask that You help us to see ourselves and others through Your eyes and to have faith to believe the best about them. I pray that we would look for Your potential locked up in every human heart and be able to pray for them from that place of belief. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 2, 2013 His Purpose for Our Life “…and let them rule…”
Gen. 1:26b (NIV) “…and let them rule over the fish, of the sea and the birds of the air, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
God created us in His image and with a very specific and functional purpose and we are His representatives or ambassadors on earth. We were meant to have dominion but not for exploitation. Just as everything that God created was meant to be subject to us-we are to be subject to Him. God desires that we manage and utilize His creation without the abuse of it.
Lord God, we need Your wisdom and discernment to be able to be servants and stewards who are a blessing to You. I pray that You would guide our hearts and minds with Your grace, mercy and justice in living out Your plan and purpose for our lives. Thank You for Your order and covering over us. Help us to be quick to obey Your voice and trust You with all of our hearts. We lean not on our own understanding but acknowledge You in directing our lives. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 3, 2013 Created and Blessed Life “So God created…”
Gen. 1:27-28a (NIV) “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.”
God’s idea now became creation with two distinctly different sexes. God blessed His creation to reproduce so that humanity would continue. This is our inheritance – to be able to reproduce is to be blessed of God. Fruitfulness and increase are from Him!
Father God, we are fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image with unique features and specific abilities. You created us to not only reproduce Your original design, but to support, sustain and protect life! We pray for lives that are being formed in the womb to be loved, cherished and cared for. Keep us from devaluing any life whether old or young; ill or well; disabled or whole; no matter the color of skin, religion or class – may we value all life and see Your potential in each life. Thank You for the blessings of fruitfulness and increase. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 4, 2013 Created Good “…and it was very good.”
Gen. 1:31 (NIV) “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning – the sixth day.”
This is the conclusion and completion of all that God created. He evaluated all He had created and everything was good but the male and female were very good! God is pleased with how and why He created us!
Praising You today Lord, that we were made very good for good! You provided for our every need before You created us. You don’t make mistakes and Your purpose remains today. Because You are good and Your love and mercy endures forever, we can look to You for all things with faith and hope in Your word. In Jesus’ name ~amen.
January 5, 2013 Breath of Life “…became a living being.”
Gen. 2:7 (NIV) “The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being.”
The word formed describes the work of an artist like a potter shaping clay. While man was made by God’s divine plan, His breathing His breath of life into man, transformed him into a living being, giving him a soul. This made man a spiritual being with capacity for service and fellowship with God. Our lives and our worth come from Him!
Thank You Father, for being personally interested and invested in every human life. Thank You that life as You intended it, allows us to experience all that Your hands have made. May we experience the fullness of Your love through thoughts, emotions and will, and to respond to You with praise. I pray that we will stand in awe of Your divine plans and live for You with grateful hearts. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 6, 2013 The Test of Life: 2 Trees ~ 1 Choice “…the tree of life and…”
Gen. 2:9b, 17 (NIV) “In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 17…but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”
The issue was not the trees but eating or consuming what they produced was. One tree produced life and the other produced knowledge. This provides a basis for testing because of God’s direct command that included the consequence if disobeyed. Obedience to the command results in life and God’s blessing.
Lord, thank You that Your word is true and instruction is clear. In Your loving kindness, You allow us to make choices. While You may not tell us how things happen when we disobey, You tell us what happens when we disobey. Father, help us to remember Your word, consider Your will for us, and count the cost of disobedience when we face choices that can lead us away from You. Thank You that You are for us. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.
January 7, 2013 The Temptation of Life “…you will be like God…”
Gen. 3:4-5 (NIV) “’You will not surely die,’ said the serpent to the woman. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
God desires obedience, because in that He gives His blessing. The serpent (Satan) blatantly neglected the penalty of death God had issued in His command. The lie: one can sin and get away with it. The doubt: that God was holding them back from their destiny out of jealousy. He told the woman to become more like God by defying His authority – taking His place and deciding what was best for her own life.
Lord God, help us to be quick to come to You when we are faced with temptation to be or do something other than what Your plan is. God, keep us from neglecting our relationship with You. Please give us Your discernment to recognize truth from lies so that doubt can be rejected. Please forgive us and restore us when we have stepped away from You and teach us so that we can stand on the firm foundation of Your word and promises. In Jesus’ name ~ amen.]]>
God gave us five things in this short little passage to ponder and meditate on:
1-Whom the gift of the child is to be given (God’s covenant people~those who believe); and the child is God’s own Son.
2-He will rule over God’s people and the entire world. The Messiah, will govern the nations properly.
3-He gives four descriptive names that will reveal His character and are priceless gifts to His recipients:
The gift of:
“Wonderful Counselor” – distinguished/exceptional in knowledge and wisdom teaching God’s ways with authority
The gift of:
“Mighty God” – able to do what no other god has done, can do, or will do
The gift of:
“Everlasting Father” – He is the second person of the Trinity and the very essence of God, having all of the attributes of God including eternality; “everlasting”, is a description of the Messiah’s relationship to time – just as Father God is called, “The Ancient of Days” and “The Alpha and the Omega – The Beginning and The End”; the promise to King David and Scripture promises fulfilled
The gift of:
“Prince of Peace” – The One who will bring in and is able to maintain peace
As you celebrate His birth and recall His life, His death and His resurrection – I pray that you will be touched by the warmth and tenderness of His love! I ask that your joy would be found fully in Him as you celebrate with precious family and friends! I trust that your hope may be renewed as you find your peace in Him!
Merry Christmas and God bless us everyone!
Love in Christ,
October 4, 2012
1 Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep. (Ps. 127 NASB)
As we continue to take steps of faith forward in this North Park Mall Project, Father God has been more than gracious and faithful to supply our needs in so many ways! How He loves to bless His children and He loves it when we invite Him to lead the way in all things!
